HISTORY

  • The Paralegal Association of Rochester, Inc. ("PAR" or the "Association") was founded in 1975 and incorporated in 1979 as a not-for-profit corporation. PAR acts in the interest of its members to meet a variety of objectives.

OBJECTIVES

  • To establish and maintain high standards of ethical conduct by members of the Association
  • To organize and conduct seminars, conferences and study groups to aid and supplement members' legal education.
  • To encourage continuing education.
  • To act as a resource center for the paralegal profession.
  • To encourage members to donate their time and services to local legal and social service agencies.
  • To provide a forum for the exchange of viewpoints on matters of professional interest.  
  • To provide a network for local paralegals in the support and exchange of ideas.
  • To keep members abreast of case law which affects or may affect the paralegal profession.   

COMMITTEES

The Association carries out its objectives through the efforts of its committees.

    • The Education/Program Committee develops programs, seminars and materials relating to continuing education for paralegals.  This committee also plans events for our members.
    • The Employment Committee maintains a list of current paralegal job openings provided by area law firms and businesses.
    • The Professional Development Committee investigates matters concerning the paralegal profession and serves as a liaison with local and state associations.
